Re-Absorbed
In partnership with design collective Parameta, the second instalment of our inaugural Absorbed series took the form of a collaboration with composer and creative coder Murphy James. Building on our previous work with Hieroglyphica and Parameta, Re-Absorbed introduces a sonic component to the series, curated especially for listening through LS50 Wireless II, KC62 and Mu7 Wireless Headphones.
Previous Collaborations
Latent Body
Our first evening with Daito Manabe featured a performance of original tracks, accompanied by a unique series of acoustic sculptures exclusively crafted to be heard on Blade One Meta, LS60 Wireless and Mu7 Wireless Headphones.
Duet Preview
The first in the Duet series featured Andreas Rau in a generative performance between improvisation and composition, precise instructions and free interpretations, synthetic and natural sounds – between human and machine.
Absorbed
Created to mark KEF’s 60th anniversary and LS60 Wireless, our first collection embodies the process of noise becoming high-fidelity sound through our Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™).
Absorbed served as our entrance to the virtual space – a way to reward our community, while starting to empower the creatives utilising this new technology for the future of arts and culture.
Intimate
Intimate is an experimental generative audiovisual project that creates audio and visual elements in real time. At KEF's first digital art exhibition celebrating Absorbed and the world of generative audio art, collectors were able to meet the artist – Jinyao Lin – in person and live-mint at KEF Music Gallery.

Manabe’s works, which range into a variety of fields, takes a new approach to everyday materials and phenomena. However, his end goal is not simply rich, high-definition realism by recognizing and recombining these familiar elemental building blocks. Rather, his practice is informed by careful observation to discover and elucidate the essential potentialities inherent to the human body, data, programming, computers, and other phenomena, thus probing the interrelationships and boundaries delineating the analogue and digital, real and virtual.
