Soundsystems Changed Everything
In Conversation: Soundsystems Changed Everything
As the reverberations of Notting Hill Carnival die down for another year, we take a look at how the Caribbean soundsystem culture which it represents has made its mark on every part of British and thence global culture. From the top of the pop charts to the deepest underground genres, from folk culture to high art and academia, the renegotiations of physicality, urban space, socialisation and sonic appreciation that come to our streets and venues with sound system culture have changed everything - and our guests for this discussion have all been a part of that in very different ways.
