Revolutionary sound absorption
A truly revolutionary tool in the KEF acoustic armoury, Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) is a highly complex maze-like structure that eliminates unwanted sound from the rear of driver, resulting in a purer, more natural performance.
Created to eliminate 99%
Metamaterials are specially developed structures that use existing materials in such a way that they exhibit new properties. MAT’s tuned channels absorb 99% of the unwanted sound from the rear of driver, compared to around 60% absorption from loudspeakers using different approaches.

Originally designed as a concept speaker, Blade is the world’s first single apparent source loudspeaker that extended the boundaries of what high end audio can achieve. It is what makes the Blade incredibly coherent across the frequency range, with noticeably more precise imaging that is possible from any conventional speaker.

Single Apparent Source
Technology
Single Apparent Source technology aims to achieve the acoustic ideal of a point source, where low, mid and high frequencies radiate from one point. Perfectly calibrated drivers that cover the entire bandwidth of the loudspeaker are configured so that all frequencies appear to radiate from one single point. The result is noticeably more precise imaging and highly accurate sound across a wider area.
