Wireless Subwoofer Adapter Kit

Comprising a discreet transmitter and receiver, KEF KW1 works with the Kube, KC62 and KC92 subwoofers. It allows KEF subs to be optimally placed, and not limited by cables. High-quality wireless transmission delivers every ounce of detail and impact from your favourite films and music.

The receiver is also available separately, allowing two KEF subwoofers to receive the same signal wirelessly from the same transmitter.

Performance with convenience

KW1 operates in the high-bandwidth 5GHz band and delivers audio up to 24bit/48kHz. The transmitter is powered by USB, while the receiver is powered directly by the subs expansion port. Pairing is intuitive and highly stable, while a range of up to 30m (line of sight) makes placement easy. KW1 is also perfectly suited for use with KEF's LSX II LT, LSX II, LS50 Wireless II and LS60 Wireless.

Pricey but Simple solution for clutter free installation

The addition of this bespoke wireless transmitter and receiver allows you to position your sub in any position (assuming a local power socket available) without the need to run a cable from the AV component to the sub. Simple installation and pairing. Instructions could be more explicit about required signal level (volume) required to bring the sub out of standby. Other than that it works flawlessly for me and a great solution despite the cost!

frequency response

what is the point of a link like this with a specified frequency response down to only 20Hz when connecting to a sub capable of 11Hz response ?

Some mistake surely ?

Dear customer, thank you very much for reviewing the KEF KW1. We are very thankful that you spotted a typo on our website regarding the low frequency response of the KW1. The frequency range goes from 10 Hz – 20 kHz and is wider than the frequency response of the KC92. You are easily able to enjoy the full subwoofer bandwidth with KW1 as well as with a cable connection. The same spec (10 Hz – 20 kHz) can be found in the KW1 owners manual and the KW1 spec sheet in the download area. Thank you, your KEF team

ErgoNOmic fail

As with other reviewers, I was ‘surprised’(!) to find the kit doesn’t work out of the box with KEF’s own system, for which it is designed; all for the sake of a correct M/F cable. Once up and running sub pops, grunts and glitches at on/off and in between. No issues when hard-wired. As with the LS50Wiis it’s connected to - very good on paper and when they work.

Hi,

Thank you for the review of the KW1 subwoofer kit. All cables required for connecting the transmitter to KEF LS Wireless systems and for connecting to AV receivers are included in the kit. Pages 5 and 9 of the operating instructions show how the cables (Y-cable and RCA cable) are to be combined. The RCA cable is even included as a stereo version. For the LS Wireless systems, therefore, only one cable of the double RCA cable is required. The radio system of the KW1 is very little susceptible to interference. Interference or poor transmission is possible in the event of interference from external radio networks and poorly shielded electrical devices that can interfere with the radio in the 5 GHz network. In principle, a defect in the KW1 is also possible, which is why we recommend having a technical check carried out by KEF Service.

Thank you,
Your KEF team
