LS50 Meta

These are the most inert speaker I’ve ever owned, do the knuckle rap test and it’s like rapping knuckles on concrete, these are solid weighty speakers, I think this and the Meta material behind the driver gives this speaker it’s clarity as it allows you to hear the speaker instead of the cabinet the drivers are housed in.

In my small room I have them around 30cm from the back wall and about a mtr from the side wall, however I find that they sound best overall with the port bungs inserted. I’m not a bass freak so this suits my taste.

Imagining is exceptional even fired straight ahead, which I prefer. Midrange clarity is where these speakers excel with the tiniest detail revealed to the listener.

If I have one critique it would be the bass, however this could be my room and position of the speaker. They always seem to be one note bass whiteout the port bungs inserted, but again my room playing its part here.

I bought the royal blue pair with matching stands, which look, well royal!
I filled the stands with inert material which stopped them ringing and added extra weight, well worth taking the trouble.

I’m still getting used to the look of these as I’m used to more traditional style speakers.

I can recommend these speakers if you want a detailed open sound, just be prepared to experiment with positioning.

KEF LS50 Meta speakers

I have seen a lot written and a few youtube reviews of these speakers and they get a lot of good reviews, I was curious to see if they lived up to the hype. I bought the speakers just in to the january covid lockdown so was unable to listen to them before purchasing.
I have them powered by a Rega Elex R amplifier and they sound absolutely amazing. Very crisp and clear with good bass. After listening to some pieces of music I find myself saying wow out loud. They have bought a new love to listening to my music collection. I don't think anybody would be disappointed with these.
Also the service and delivery from KEF was excellent.
