A Rich Heritage In Loudspeaker Design
In 1961, ex-BBC engineer Raymond Cooke established his first research lab on the banks of the River Medway in Kent, in a wartime Nissen Hut formerly used by Kent Engineering and Foundry - hence the name KEF. Over six decades later, our engineers still work closely with production technicians at the same riverside location to create our award-winning HiFi speaker models, all designed, engineered and handcrafted in Maidstone.
Pride In Our Work
Our flagship HiFi speakers, including Blade One Meta, Blade Two Meta, The Reference range and the iconic MUON, are all meticulously built to exacting standards. This fine work requires a skilled hand, and each pair is assembled with pride by the same technician from start to finish.
- Stewart Arney, KEF Assembly Technician
Exacting Standards
After years of refinement, the latest Blade loudspeakers feature key KEF technologies like a 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology™ and Single Apparent Source Technology.
Quality control is paramount to maintaining the high standards of our products. Components, including a hand-built internal circuit board, are pre-measured, and finished speakers are gauged against the absolute line standard before a thorough visual check and a final polish.
KEF Certified
Like all of our flagship speakers, each Blade is issued a unique Build Certificate after visual checks and sonic measurements. This document records intricate details of the build, including the final response chart, and is authenticated with the signature of the technician who assembled it.
With expert engineering and skilled craftsmanship like this, hearing KEF Blade in all its glory is the only way to truly appreciate exactly what this loudspeaker is capable of. Book your private listening session at KEF Music Gallery London or at one of our authorised KEF retail partners.
